Happy Holidays
For those of us who celebrate Christmas, that holiday is right around corner. I had trouble getting into the Christmas spirit. I am still not all the way there, but this cute little picture sure does make me feel all gooey inside. It is not uncommon for me to not feel the holiday spirit until that day when I am with my extended family. For me, this holiday is all about being with my family. I do not get to see my extended family very often, so this time we have together is very important. I detest the shopping and the crowds, but I love the parties, the food and especially the fellowship.
Whatever your holiday, or non-holiday, I hope that you take advantage of the closed businesses and spend that time with your family, whether that be the family given to you and/or the family you chose. This can be a depressing time, especially if you focus too much energy on what you do not have. It's a reigning theme at Mosaic Life Online, but focusing on the positive is the only way to survive at times. This positive focus allows me to regain my power from those aiming to connect me to their misery. Just make a choice to be happy.
Vitiligo Point of View
This is normally the season where Vitiligo sufferers get to cover up. I love my sweaters, boots, hats, and gloves. Although, the weather has been unseasonably warm in Houston, so I have not been able to wear my favorite winter accessories very often this year. Despite that, my mind has been preoccupied as I consciously focus on the wonderful, positive distractions of my life; I have literally forgotten that I have Vitiligo at times. When I am reminded of my condition, I am no longer bitter. As a friend and I were discussing, Vitiligo does not stop my party!
